Let's talk about the Kershaw CQC 7k

I've got nothing against Kershaw. I've owned many and they did a rebuild on an old Snap-On 2000 (1550?) that I'd lost and found under some leaves in the shed 15 years later.

Sometimes there just aren't any other tools around.

I and others like Kershaw's and you have to trust that if something does go wrong that there's always another tool to fill the gap.
No insult intended. You were dismissive of the wave as if it was just a fortuitous gimmick. Then you say you have no interest, it’s just a knife that you started a whole thread about.

I have nothing against kershaw at all. Was just suggesting trying the real thing because they’re excellent knives and that you would probably love the wave once you used it.

I didn't mean to come off as dismissive of the wave feature, but it is a part of the whole. Add affordable price, blade design, optional deployment it comes together as a neat package (I hope) as the one I already have is beat and not likely indicative of one taken care of.
Are you in/from Nola? I was there 2008-2017. I miss the food dearly.

Well good luck with your search, hope you find one you like.

Born and raised in nola. Glad you enjoyed your time here. The food is excellent, I’m very much a foodie and in to music. Unfortunately the city is struggling. We have a terrible mayor and 1/2 of the police force needed. Crime is a little crazy right now. Leaving may not have been a terrible thing.

Where did you move to? Were you just here for a job? So many people come and never leave. I always say this city is like a sponge. I’d love to leave myself but hard with all the family ties.

I initially went for Seminary (NOBTS), stayed, did some pastoral ministry, I got tired of all the violence, and used that as an excuse, a good one, to move to Anderson, SC to marry a girl I met in Nola. She had been working on her counseling degree, and had moved to Anderson to be with her family who needed her. I love it here, but yes, I would do anything for a good crawfish boil. Well almost, they do have them in the Greenville area and surrounding periodically, but the cost is laughably exorbitant. Like $10+/lb. As you know, the average person can easily eat 3 lb so the math is not hard at all!
My wife really fell in love with the city. I just fell in like.

While certainly “fortuitous” its become an excellent innovation for folding knives. While it may have been accidental it works like a dream and there’s no faster way to deploy a knife other than a fixed blade.

And it’s not just a knife but rather just a kershaw. Save ya money and buy the real thing. You won’t be disappointed and I’m sure you’ll become quite the fan of the wave.
I love my Emerson ZT tanto in elmax. Close enough for this fella to the real thing!

Happy to hear it, it’s best to just visit 😉. Good chance we’ll be leaving as well after my daughter finishes high school. Personally I want to be in the mountains. I would definitely miss the crawfish, food and music but probably most of all, the live oaks.

I visit Charleston sc usually once a year. Reminds me a lot of nola with all the marsh and oaks as well.

That’s a great knife. I want one pretty bad. Been trying to get it off my buddy because he won’t carry it since it sliced the tip of his finger off. I’ll be looking for one next yr for sure. Currently on a spending freeze!

I don't know if you're looking for work, but Greenville is blowing up. Within an hour of the mountains, although a good piece from Charleston. Anderson is a good spot, just a smaller town. Might be just what you need. About 1.5 hours away is Asheville, NC which is probably as close to a Nola vibe as you can get around here, including hipster doofuses. I'm on a buying freeze too, until I see a deal I can't pass up.

Thanks for the tip on greenville. Will have to check it out.

Ideally I’d like to travel for a year and pick a place to settle. I’ve been to asheville, it’s beautiful. Got 4 more years to figure it out.

Mine bit me pretty good once when I was doing something stupid! Luckily didn't need stitches though it was a bleeder!

They come sharp as hell that’s for sure and drop shut which I don’t mind on a flipper cause the flipper tab protects ya fingers. Gotta be careful with that one for sure.

Got it in. Had to lollygag around the house before leaving for work to do so, but my life is good so I take all the perks I can.
Anyway, first impressions:
1. It's a knife. Yep, it shares 90% of the same DNA with almost every other folder in existence.
B. It is not an EDC knife for me. At least not at the moment. It is clear that this design is purpose built to be deployed quickly and vociferously. If you half ass it, it will kind of open, which presents the whole cutting your finger off potentiality. However, with practice one could control when and if the blade opens.
Third: Action was stiff. So what? Back in my day to open a knife you had to make sure you had the talons of an eagle and force them into the tiny sliver of a crack in the blade that was inevitably gunked up with grease, dirt, and blood. I knife that opened this easily would have raised the eyebrow of the local meter maid who would have instantly communicated the perceived threat to the local magistrate.
I did adjust the pivot and one thousandth of a degree too tight and you actually have to put a little effort into Spidey flicking. One thousandth too loose and your scraping the liner with the blade like your trying to get the last bit of tar out of a crack pipe. I chalk that up to extremely close tolerances from the Kershaw team.
In conclusion, I like it. I can see my self picking it up for walks and treks, not necessarily to go out to eat at Logan's. That would require the much fancier Kershaw Knockout (oh snap, I just gave it to someone, I'll have to find another snazzy knife).
Two thumbs up, 5 stars, Brawny's seal of approval.
Taking it to work. Leg not to scale.

Awesome, glad ya like it. Very funny review, maybe you should be doing YouTube reviews.

Just a little tip. To make sure not to deploy the blade when not using the wave make a point to grab around the tip of the knife when pulling it out of your pocket. Will save a finger every time.
