That is ageing nicely... Looks great.:thumbsup:

There are many great looking 15's and I do have a few of the TC Barlows that I am glad that I have but I much prefer the Northfield 77 Barlow . The size of it is more to my liking . Both are very fine knives with both Barlows being the visions of 2 very fine guys . Would like to see more of both the 15s and 77s .

Harry
I only have one of each, and like them both. In general, I'd say the #15 is a more comfortable size for me.
The #77 Barlow feels heavier and bulkier than the single blade '14 Forum knife, for sure.

Trying to compare the TC and NF Barlows is like comparing Mila Kunis with Angelina Jolie. One is just a little bit taller than the other!

GE Jr GE Jr , now that the SFOs have been put on ice for a while, I do believe we will see many different 15 and 77 versions in the future. We just don’t know how long it will take. GEC could also certainly use a different pattern to create a new Barlow as well. It is hard for me to believe that they will stop making the very knives that people are now willing to pay between $500 and $1000 for. (Yes, there is an Esky Zulu on eBay right now that will sell for more than $1000!)

I agree with r8shell r8shell that the two blade 77 is a tad bit heavy, but the usefulness of that coping blade makes it worth it. If you don’t like feeling the weight of a knife, nothing beats a 15.

I think it’s high time for a run of 77s. “Regular” 77s. I have said before that they’re boring, IMO, compared to the Barlow, forum knife, and Washington SFOs on that frame, but there’s no reason why they can’t be equally interesting.

Love my 73, love my 77 but 15s are still the best knife GEC has made...and the prices seen on the secondary market seems to be supporting my premise.

I’d have to say- in my limited experience? 15’s and 14’s just seem to be dependable. I wouldn’t have the worry about getting something like that #33 disappointment: they’ve made enough of those that they have it pretty well dialed in. You can outfit them with any blade you want. Perfect size, conservative shape.

I would really like to see GEC just make a run of standard 15s...no special models, just simple clips, spears, and sheepsfoot; bare head and end caps; single blades as well as doubles with a secondary clip and crown lifters...call those with the lifters whatever you like...Radio or Crown Lifter, doesn't really matter....just Boys Knife with cap lifter is fine by me.

And I'd really like to see GEC make a totally new pattern for a change ;)
Were the 97s, 93s, 29s, and 86s totally new? Or just new to GEC? Asking for clarification not being a D. I would say the shut down has GEC in a bit of a catch up mode and we all should be grateful they are still making knives.
35s, 47s, 74s some other snake we don't know about. If all this speculation is true, I would not look for 15s or 77s in 2020. Shoot they still have to do a prerequisite run on 73s after a run of 23s.

I started out with GEC buying the regular 77’s. To me, they are the Goldilocks of knives, not too big and not too small. If GEC will see the light and get their fill of making novelties, I’d buy all their 77’s. Their latest iteration of the wonderful 35s makes me nauseous.

They’re definitely the most popular, it seems everyone likes them and a lot of people love them. That said, I don’t think most popular is the same as best.;) It can’t be the best when clearly the 81 stock knife and 72 Cody’s are fighting for that honor. :D

C’mon Markeologist Markeologist . I am trying to drive up the prices on the secondary market ;)

Incredible stag on all three! You don’t have to worry, the value on those is doing just fine on the auction site too haha!

Jiki Jiki Obviously, those patterns were new to GEC. Totally, if interpreted pedantically might lead people, so inclined, to think that it must include something unseen and unheard of before ;) But as you should know, there are really no totally 'new' patterns, just interpretations of existing themes or nomenclature twist. e.g. play on words / naming knives.

Additionally, it is also an axiom that we are all pleased that GEC are continuing to produce knives under the current constraints. My point was surely that it would be nice to see GEC embarking upon a pattern they had not put their hand to before- Coffin Jack, Sleeveboard, proper sized Norfolk (outside Northwoods restrictions) Surveyor et al. Rather than the eternal chorus of another 15, it's the turn of XYZ. I've put my name to such chatter before, but a new pattern would ignite us all:cool:
