Lets talk GEC!

I must have been struck by lightning. Sepia in hand with goldy on the way. I started 2021 with zero TC Barlows. I can stop, but I have a hot hand right now.
Congrats!
I had the opportunity to get two Sepias but felt greedy so passed up on the second one. I’ll probably regret it, two more and I could have flipped them and then retired early :p

That's one I kinda regret not getting. At the time the 86 seemed too big, but my knife preferences have changed in that direction since. And, more importantly, I've really come to like that wrench shield more and more as I see them!
I don't carry the 86's too often. They are a big pocket knife. I bought that one because the wrench shield was different and I liked the story behind the sucker rod wood. I have to admit that I didn't find the gray wood that interesting visually. I've since come to really like the wood. I wouldn't mind seeing it used more often if there is still a supply.

Well I missed the $70 barlow so I'm going use the piss out of this one.;)

That's a beauty.

I kinda got disillusioned with GEC stuff. They make a great knife, but the market had gotten silly and it wasn't enjoyable for me.

I got lucky with one of those red soup bone barlows. I found I couldn't enjoy using it because it was jumping in price... people paying double. I ended up just selling it for what I had in it.

I got one Pemberton with a cracked handle..... (maybe I should just enjoy that one more) and that's it now.

I'd like to get a a 35 Cattle Knife if they ever do it.. a 16 Canoe and a spear long pull boys knife if they ever run again....

That's probably it though.

Mostly the cattle knife because I never found one I liked that wasn't expensive and I want to use it.

On the subject of price and gouging, these were dropped today at this price. Not photoshopped. Don't know about you folks but I didn't get kissed.

That’s just bizarre. :D

I’d really like to get ahold of one of those Glitter Golds, but I’m not gonna get my hopes up. (I missed that particular drop by hours.)

I carry one at least once a week, myself. The #86 is what got me into GECs, and I was fortunate to track down an example of each cover (except for the UK market SFO, and two of the three Battleship SFOs). Simply the perfect slipjoint for someone who A. likes large knives and B. loves classic traditionals. I wonder if they'll ever do them again.

Looking forward to a new run...wish there were more unique handle materials

I'm surprised the glitter gold and Osage Barlow are not on the schedule.
I wonder if GEC will let Mike run a SFO 85EO, that would be great, one of my favorites, I missed the last run and had to pay a premium, hope I get lucky this time if it does happen.

Even being on the bigger side, the 86 is in the top three patterns of GEC. Like you, I also got the sucker rod wood cover for the reasons you described. It has since become a knife I carry somewhat frequently (like yesterday) as it places my two favorite blade shapes on the same frame.
