Lets talk GEC!

I've been somewhat out of touch in this group for several months. Not something done by choice. The workload is heavy in the Texas construction industry and has busted out after the Covid. I guess that is a blessing in some ways but it tires out an old man. Still able to find some limited time to add some more fine GEC to the collection. Hope all you fellow collectors are doing well.

I wonder if they might be doing a northwoods run right now. Seems the case when there are big gaps in production schedule updates. Northwoods sowbelly stockman on the 88 frame would move the needle
Doing another SFO? After they said no more SFOs? A 2nd for a dealer that has already had one since no more SFOs? Without doing one for Mike knifeswapper knifeswapper ? Seems unlikely, I'm still thinking 77 Yankee Barlow and I hope Mike gets a pile of them.😎

sorry to just jump in here, but, that is what you want, when you squeeze everything back together... a slight protrusion will allow you to peen it down, which flares it out to "seal" the pin hole, and tightens the assembly up. Once you have peened both sides to as tight as you want them, then simply file, or sandpaper down the top of the pin to be flush with the surface of the bolster...... then polish to whatever finish you desire.

edit: there are others on here with MUCH more experience than this layman, and they can probably explain it better than I did...
Get some fine emery boards (your wife uses them), or sandpaper and polishing compound..... Use progressively finer grits and polishing compound until the pins are flush and the bolster is to the sheen you want......

It's the same principle as sharpening the blade; progressively finer grits..... You can use Scotch Brites or whatever you have laying around...... You can even put polishing compound on your electric toothbrush....

Edit to add: If you feel uncomfortable with polishing the bolsters, any good jeweler that does repairs can do it for you...... Metalsmithing is right up their alley....
Home Depot sells fine wet/dry sand papers at 400, 800, 1500, 000 and. 3000. I find that the 3000 (with winded) followed by a leather honing with green compound will give nickel silver bolsters a perfect mirror shine.

While we anxiously wait for the schedule update, could I request some pictures of your 331313 conductor whittlers? I am especially interested in all the weird random acrylics! I am currently into split back whittlers and one of these is next on the search list. Thanks.

This kind of 'lack of update' does usually tend to mean an SFO but sometimes it's a new pattern. The 88 isn't a secret, so I doubt that is what they are hiding. Either way, I can't wait to see what's next. I love the 94/49 kick off to the year!
