I wouldn't consider half stop a distinctive feature of a pattern really, same as presence or absence of liner lock, EO notch etc.

Errr... No idea. Maybe it is so they can make basically similar pattern twice a year, not breaking their habit to not to.

Well the difference is marginal, 55s come in Spear/Wharncliffe and some are liner-locks - hence the half-stop?

56 are cam with up to 3 blades, some EZ-Open and no Wharncliffe master ? Perhaps GEC was experimenting with the construction methods ? The 55 I sold seemed to have very strong spring and W&T the 56s much less so, same with the 57s

The difference is just half stops.

The rest of that is based on the specific run of knives.

Those stonewash blue covers don't tempt me at all and I've already got a dark wood 47 that I like better. There must be something else!

Nothing against this run, but I have a Viper already in jigged plum bone and that’s all I need for that pattern. Looks like it’s going to be a lollyscramble though!

I want to point out that it has been way too long since GEC gave us some Osage orange covers. This is wrong.

I’m pretty set on #47s, but I would like one of the ebony ones. Might be easier said than done, though.

I love my jigged plum bone. I got mine modified to add a second blade and it is a lot of fun, but I wish I had a stock one as well. I just got in the ebony and it is also fantastic
