Lets talk GEC!

Beautiful and rare examples, that Stag....

For me the 73 version is just the right size for a pocket-knife, not oversize nor fiddly, and I prefer Drop-Point over Clip single blades. They've made some wonderful examples of this, their first and in many ways iconic pattern, the Great Starter

Thanks, Will
I know what you mean, Will. As it so happens, my first ever GEC was a 73, and that pattern continues to be a favorite. As you say, it is a great size -- meets the Goldilocks "just right" standard. :)👍

Postie Mike just dropped off this beauty! It’s my first #64 and I’m impressed. The fit and finish is typical GEC quality. The blade and swing guard lock up tight, walk and talk is the best of any of my GEC lock backs with a gator snap closure. The ironwood handles are nicely figured and the pics don’t do them justice. It’s a keeper! 😀

I got one new and a couple new-to-me GECs in the mail this morning.

First up is the Desert Ironwood #64 from the current run. Interesting knife. I do wish they had done some of these in 1095 (preferably in Tidioute trim), but I’m not complaining (well, not much).

Next is this #54 from 2009 in Appaloosa Bone. Nice strong pull on these blades (especially the clip point). Very nice knife.

And last but not least (in any sense of the word) is this #45 Lumber Jack. Such a funky/odd/cool knife. Big thanks to paulhilborn paulhilborn for this one.:thumbsup:

I text Paul when I got the knife this morning and told him I thought it was funny that when I took it out and opened the main blade, I thought, “huh, this is smaller than I expected.” Then I realized it was because the only similar knife I had was the #46, and compared to the spatula-esque spear blade on that knife, this one is kinda small (or at least smaller). 🤣

Wow! Some excellent knives there. I love the Lumberjack shield! Would love to see another run of 45 and 46 pattern knives.
