Lets talk GEC!

Ready for Charlie's Tom Choice Barlow now. My understanding it is suppose to be up for ordering shortly after the Blade Forum Knife. Anybody hear anything?

I have only heard whispers which I had assumed were only assumptions. I haven't heard anything concrete but I am certainly not the one to ask as I am not privy to any insider info. I certainly won't complain, it would be great to have an opportunity to get one of his Barlows.

Is the process similar to how Barry did it? Will Charlie post something on Blade Forums, his website, or both?

I have not been here long enough to have benefited from Charlie's SFOs so I am most definitely the wrong guy to ask regarding the acquisition process. Perhaps someone here can chime in or you might be able to do a search and find some past threads involving his SFOs.

We are not supposed to talk here about the buying process. Only to talk about the knives themselves.

It is meant in the nicest way possible.
I don't want to sound rude.

Oh not at all. I should have known better as I recently was chastised for the same thing in this thread not too long ago. Can be easy to forget when I'm not paying attention. I really do appreciate the reminder.

Where DO we talk about the purchasing process? After all, it's a pretty important part of being able to have a knife to talk about.
Not arguing with the rule. Just asking.

The mods or others can correct me if I am wrong. But it is my understanding that this thread is for the discussing of GEC knives themselves, various models, patterns, features, aesthetics, etc. I think ultimately it is to prevent the main focus of the thread from being derailed as many are wont to do.

The discussion in regards to acquiring, pre-ordering, purchasing is left to other threads involving the particular pattern in question. For instance, there is a thread that pertains to the GEC #66 that is in current production and it involves not only discussion in regards to that pattern but also the various SFOs and pre-orders available. Same with the current 2017 Forum knife, there are purchasing threads that involve that specific knife.

So in a nutshell, if you are wanting to discuss the particulars of acquiring a knife, either start a thread about it or find one that already exists and pose your queries there. Keeping in mind, of course, that vendors that do not pay to be advertised or discussed here should be omitted in the discussion.

That is at least how I am understanding things. I stand to be corrected if necessary though.

Feedback: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly!, http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/feedback-the-good-the-bad-the-ugly.699/ is the most appropriate place for discussions about purchasing.

If there's a post or two that goes awry occasionally in this forum, it may go without a moderator comment. When the discussion starts to be more about purchasing, where to purchase, how many are available etc. you'll see posts moved to Feedback.

Thank you both.

Hey guys.
I finally got my first GEC
It's a maroon micarta Beer scout.
I really love this knife.
In the hole where the bail goes it is really scratched up, almost appears to be dented. Only on one side though. I purchased it BNiT from a reputable dealer.
Is this normal ?

Thanks
Andy

It's hard to tell from your photos. Can you take a close up or direct upload the photo to BF? Doesn't sound right.

No. Not normal, Andy. It should not be like that.

Andy, mine is like that on one side. I've also seen similar marks on one or two in online photos. I'm guessing it happens when the bail gets installed, and then closed by squeezing or tapping with some tool of persuasion.

I did remove my bail and polish up that eyelet. Got it looking pretty good! Put the bail back on, and put just about all the same marks back on it! Oh, well. :D

Lol. Mine is a user so I'm not gonna worry about it.

I appreciate everyone's answers
