Lets talk GEC!

The jigging is very typical of what GEC has been putting out, very shallow jigging with a plain pattern. :(
I am totally with you on the jigging. Very pedestrian looking and nowhere near what GEC is capable of doing.

Reminds me of the jigging on my 14 2 blade Boy's Knife from last year, which is kind of the weak point of that knife. I will say it is starting to age nicely around the edges.

I think I like it.

I know I like the shield, but I might have preferred a more traditional placement.

Knowing GEC tho, there is almost certainly a historical precedent for this design.

If you look at the width of the shield, that’s probably the first place they could fit it without splintering bone.

Ram foot? More like a ram backside, ammirite? If I’d missed getting one at all I would get this one just as a functional user... but I wouldn’t look the ram square in the eye and tell it it’s pretty like my others.

One wonders if the blade and shield had been lamb rather than ram, at the normal single blade Northfield price if the lanterns and pitchforks would have stayed home?

:( I find it an exercise in whimsy. That shield should've stayed as a pin button (if you must) and sticking it down there near the end looks like an exercise in desperation:where are we going to stick it? I could think of a place.. Concur with others, the bone's nothing to write home about, what a wasted opportunity! Something thick like Winterbottom/Cougar Claw or Horsecut would offer a handsome prospect without any shield. Or a light coloured Corncob or Peachseed (CASE Greenbone too) with a Diamond shield:cool:

Others have their own tastes and I'm sure they'll all sell-out in a flash, but no thank you.

I was fortunate enough to get one of the 93 Lambs that I really wanted, but just haven't been able to pull the trigger on a Ram yet. Something about the size or shape of the blade keeps stopping me from checking out, even though I've now raced to put three different ones in my cart (natural micarta, oily bone, and cocobolo). I may do the same when I get the next notice... I'm intrigued and put off somehow at the same time.

Just goes to show you, there’s something for everyone at GEC except another super steel, tactical, tanto blade, axis lock, assisted opening, pocket clip folder.

I will say that I was skeptical about the broadening ramsfoot blade at first- I typically like wharnecliffe blades for the fine point. After some use I think it’s an absolute winner. It’s sturdy, the grind is super slim and I love the length of straight cutting edge it gives me.

Haha I’m a big fan of the pattern and I don’t mind letting GEC and it’s distributors know I’m willing to pay. This latest one though? Well I’m glad some people like it, but I agree with the person who said they feel like it’s a “missed opportunity”. I never buy 2 of the same thing, but this knife is different enough compared to other knives out there I might have bought 3 and risked my marriage with clear conscience. It’s just too bad this last knife didn’t do it for me.

I love it!

Another instant classic.

Pretty sure this will be a new everyday carry favorite.

only shields that could compete are roaring grizzly bear, leaping salmon, and jumping mountain lion!

So you've never seen the GEC made autos I take it ;)

I've seen shield placement like this before (now I've got to go find where), but I still think they dipped into some of the Rendezvous punch early.

How is a Ram Foot different from a Ram's Foot (besides the " 's "). Why is it Original? Because of the shield placement? Because it says so on the blade? And if there's no difference, wouldn't the Natural Canvas Micarta version be the "Original"?

It's sure to be another sell-out, tho.

I agree, Al and Will. It's a "No" for me.
I can't remember the last GEC that I felt this way about.
Those of you who like them, enjoy, my friends!
