Lets talk GEC!

I miss GEC, and I am hoping they come back on stream soon!!

Way back in 2011, Bill had a little more time to experiment, and he tried some "peachseed" jigging at my request, and adopted my chosen name for the #66 - BJM!! (Bullwinkle J. Moose!!:D)
Here's what he made; from their website production totals;
Charlie Campagna
#661211BJM Northfield Deep Red Wine Jig Bone 10 pcs. no serial number
#661211BJM Northfield Blood Jig Bone 11 pcs. no serial number

The bone turned out well, and with a few handles left over, he assembled a few three-blades as well!
The first peachseeds at GEC, as I remember!!! Jigged at an angle as inspired by Schrade's old method!!

Thanks, LT !! I am glad you enjoy my scans.
I like the creativity many (you!!) show with your cameras, but I value the straight-on, 90 degree view one gets from a scanner. It generally keeps the proportions correct, as boring as that sounds!:D
Historical note; That microfiber cloth in the background has only been laundered once in a dozen years!!:)

The perspective is the hardest part.

me too! miss GEC... it would be fun to get Bill Howard on the forum for a question and answer session or something - "The Bill Howard Hour" . Bill has just got to be tired of weed whacking around the house by now - ya think?

He's probably too smart for that. :D
He would get bombarded with questions like...
"Why no stainless"? "When are you going to make (insert your favorite model here)"? "We need more Beer Scouts!"

LOL - yes, you are most probably right - I would like to know what his inspirations for various models are, and how does the design process works for him/GEC etc...

Took my H10 out Saturday for our turkey opener. No luck but did chase two toms for a few hours. Great day.

Anybody here from Pennsylvania that can give us any info about possible return to work date? All I can find online is that they let everyone in construction go back to work yesterday.

We don't have that much more information than anyone outside of PA probably haha

The government's (governor's) communication has been pretty vague. Crawford county, where Titusville is, is in the yellow phase. Therefore "miscellaneous manufacturing" which I'm assuming GEC fits under, can start back up as long as they follow CDC guidelines. I would imagine they will have to figure out some workarounds to follow CDC guidelines while restarting production. As I read the reopening guidelines, counties can be taken back to red if there are new cases and such. But yeah, it seems they are able to restart operations tomorrow.

Those are beauties Charlie!

GEC report back to work Friday!

At least some of GEC! I assume you're referencing Randy's comments, which I was gonna post about also.

I'm not sure that it'll be back to normal production. Bill could be having only some employees come back to work, it might be a skeleton crew, it could be shift work, who knows. We'll see! However they reopen, I'm sure Bill will do right by the employees (and still make great knives).

Either way, I'm excited for them to get rolling again!
