I posted pics of this over on Customs but thought I'd show it over here too:

This was ordered as a letter opener but it's hardened and sharpened.

Scroll backbones are copper inlay and the border is brass inlay. This was my first real inlay project. I did a lot of practicing on scrap before/during this build.

Second picture has the most accurate color.

Wood is stabilized curly maple with black liners.

The person that bought it is giving it to someone as a gift. I blurred out the final recipient's name for privacy.

Thanks for looking.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate it :)

The person that ordered it doesn't know about the inlay yet. They received one as a gift and ordered another to give to someone else. She gave me a lot of leeway on the design and I'd been looking for a project to try out inlay, so I didn't mention it or add it to the price. I'll be delivering it this weekend.

WoW.....just Wow.

She doesn't know about that inlay? It may be a good thing you put Archie's name on it or she might have changed her mind. lol

Yeah, I got the name on there pretty quick so I couldn't keep it either. I took it up to show family/friends for hunting last weekend and I'm pretty glad it had a name on it then too. :)

Oh man, that makes me miss my old knife. I had a spyderco that had hand engraved red, green, and regular gold inlaid silver floral work, on both sides and the clip with my initials. It was given by a friend who was apprenticing as a silversmith when we were in high school, the knife was worked on by both of his uncles who were master engravers, one on each side in a different style, but matching. It was stolen. :(

This is absolutely beautiful, I love it. I was planning a letter opener for someone special, and this inspired me for sure.

Very impressive! If I received that, I'd be tempted to carry it around in a sheath just in case someone needed a letter opened, lol!
