I decided that I wanted to learn how to pour pewter. Not wanting to mess up a knife, I decided to make a simple letter opener instead. The project turned out so good that I decided to offer it for sale.

The blade is simple mild steel, not heat treatable and not sharpenable, 1/4" round bar, blade flattened with a few forge marks for character and little twist where it enters the handle. The handle is a piece of white tail stag with poured pewter bolster and pommel. Overall length is 10.5 inches.

A unique one-of-a-kind letter opener.

Price is $60 and includes USPS Priority shipping with insurance to domestic USA addresses. Prefer PayPal or USPS money order. Goes to the first "I'll take it."

Links to my personal intro and to email are in my signature. Thanks for looking.

Well - - 144 views so far and no comments. It must be really ugly. Your constructive criticism will be appreciated. And, you can't hurt my feeling (unless you insult my family :D), so, let'em fly!!

I honestly like it, it has a rustic feel to it. looks good

Jarod - thanks for the comment. And, thanks for your website and videos. In the one about laying out your pattern on the blank, you mention a wood hardner. And, to me, it sounds like you are saying 'minowick' as the name of the company that makes it. Could you clarify, please?? I didn't fine my spelling of what I thought you said using Google.

Regards,

I like your letter opener too, very cool.

I think he was saying 'Minwax' for the wood hardener regarding your post above.

Xmodius - thanks for the comment and the Minwax tip - they do sell a hardener.

I've been out of town for the last few weeks and didn't have internet access.
Thought it might be time to bump this for the first.

Regards and thanks to all who took time to look.
