Does anyone own a Leu knife? I'd like to know what you think of the knife. The quality appears very good on his blades.

I have a full-on custom that he made for me.

It's really quite amazing.

If you're into the Hartsfield style of zero-edge right-hand-grind chisel-ground high carbon fixed blade, his work is some of the best I've seen outside of Hartsfield. (To be clear, the only other maker in that specific category that I've really handled...)

It is SHARP, and it stays sharp, and when it gets slightly dull, it sharpens up with a quick stropping.

One of the sharpest knives I have (it is only second to a 1/16" full flat ground kitchen deba).

Biogon,
Thanks for the response. I ordered a kozuka from him. I just had a good feeling about him and his blades. If you want I'll post my opinion about the blade when I get it.

Sure, I'd be interested to hear what other people have to say.

I was lucky Pohan was able to work on my own design; it's pretty rare to find a knifemaker who will do that these days.

So far, she's only eaten soft materials with a voracious appetite. I have a BRK&T Bravo-1 when I need anything tougher... and a 'Hawk for really smashing up stuff! ;)

Biogon,

Thought you said that BRK&T Bravo-1 chipped or something like that cutting twist ties or something along plastic ? Maybe i'm trippin???!?@! Or maybe that was another blade? :D

I have one of Pohan's Kozuka's and as we speak he is currently making me another, and I will order a third not long from now-his work is first rate-he is great to deal with, and his price's are very fair,oh yeah his leather sheath's are nice also-knives are built like a tank and are very sharp-first class all the way-don't be afraid to order a true custom from a great guy-ck out his website or design one with him you'll be glad you did,

Thanks for the great comment guys! Look forward to making more blades for you guys in the future!

Yeh, it did... funny story, that.

The long story is that I could never get a sharp edge with the original convex grind so I put a normal v-edge on it with the Edge Pro, but I basically followed the original "convex" angle as closely as I could.

Turns out that makes a pretty fragile edge (IIRC, it ended up being something like 17 deg per side?), especially when you force it through the cemented-together double thick side of a blister pack (that's what I was cutting) and it rolled/chipped the edge in one spot. (I can't tell exactly what happened; there was just a spot of discontinuity).

I just ended up steeling and stropping it back to normal. It kind of surprised me though, but if a cut blister pack is tough and sharp enough to cut draw blood, I suppose it's not unreasonable.

I have bought quite a few of Pohan's blades. They are all solid, sharp and overall well made. Pohan Leu could also make a blade with a conventional grind, not only the chisel-ground, zero-edge type of blade. He is an honest guy and I believe, as I have already told him in our communications, that one day he is going to be a highly sought-after knifemaker.

My $.02;).

Keep grinding those blades sharp and solid Pohan:thumbup:!

DITTO on the pics! I just told a friend to get on the ground floor of this guy-MR. Leu. Thanks for the feed-back!

I'd love to see the gallery, but it's empty. It's just my computer or something else? Cheers!

He made one for me a few months back. Easy to deal with and a heck of a blade. I have not had time to test the blade but it looks great. Very good craftsmenship.

U.C.O.K,

I have no idea why you can't see the gallery.....or maybe I do! Maybe you don't have FLASH installed on your computer and that's why nothing is showing up. I just checked it out like 10 seconds ago and it's there. =) Thanks for all the kind words guys and nice seeing the rest of you people I don't know. :D

Pohan

I will keep grinding! I suppose until I run out of belts =) Which I am not too far from! LOL.

I can see them now. Great knives. I'll e-mailed you in the next few days Mr. Pohan. Cheers!

I just know Lycosa on the BF sir. As FYI I'm a big fans of this kind of knives genre. But my money could never meet those knives of "the PH". I think your price is very reasonable. Good to know you.
