Life’s Simple Pleasures

When I get something new, especially when it's a pattern I've never had in a cover I've never had, I love taking it out in the morning sunlight to see what it looks like. Then seeing what it looks like in the mid day sun, at dusk, on a cloudy day, etc.. Seeing my knives in different stages of natural light are some of the best experiences I get from this hobby.

When you gift your Orchard Gem #38 to your bosses son who is 8 yrs old, but already knows how to carry a knife & use it properly. He spends a lot of time with his dad on their 60 acres of Pistachio trees working.
His eyes lit up like a Christmas morning. That brought great pleasure knowing it will be used well.

The reassurance I get setting my knife and wallet down after a long hard day, like my dad did, and his dad did - and watching my kids play - knowing that they will likely do the same someday, and maybe things will be just fine for them.
Yes I do that too! Know what you mean. I sit them down on my side table next to my chair. Reassuring and very satisfying. Cheers!

My simple pleasure is when one of the folks at work randomly thanks me for a Christmas knife. A got a deal on some simple stainless pen knives with a cap lifter/ screwdriver a while back I give them to the new folks at work at their first Christmas, many of whom have never tried a knife for EDC. A lot of people state it is the most useful gift they have ever received, after bragging about what they have used it to take care of.

Sunday morning coffee while perusing the Porch.
Finding the knife you want after you've been looking for one for months
Looking in a box at a yard sale to find several old USA made knives and the seller says "would $20 be ok" (one of my better days)
Reaching in your pocket to find a fine knife a forum member gifted you just because they could
The first time you roll up a burr on your edge when you have been trying to learn how to sharpen

All good ones there Randy!

Reaching into my pocket this morning and running my fingers over my old Case 6318 and the previously jigged red bone, now worn completely smooth from 38 years of use and cut some breakfast sausage with the old dark and commensurately worn but loyally sharp carbon spey blade.

Yea, Christian I'll bet you have. ;):D I in contrast, am still using my old faithfuls.. Although I am pondering a new Harness Jack.

Been off work for a few days, none too well. Then I sharpened up a few old faithfuls, got them nice and keen including a couple of D2 Queens (more work for sure) and things felt a lot better afterwards:thumbsup:
