Lifestraw and Life Saver Bottle

Has anyone used either one? Are they any good? The lifestraw is ultra cheap at $3 and the life saver bottle is something like $300?!

It can't filter Giardia, I believe.

Where do you see it for $3? I thought that was just the manufacturing cost, not what they actually sell it for. I could only find it for $15.

I have the Aquamira version. It can filter down to 3 microns instead of the 15 that the Lifestraw does, so it will take care of a lot more. I have a couple in my kits, but haven't used them yet, so I can't say how well they work.

They clog quick in all but clear water. Neat idea but poorly tested.

Have a backup.

I had one of these years ago. It was a stiff version, later there were flexible ones. Maybe they're better now than they were 20 years ago, but the only time I ever tried to use it my face was red from sucking before I ever actually got any water through it!
