Lifetime warantee? One year?

Danelle,
I read the warranty and I gather that wear on the liner lock would fall under the "time to retire this knife" catagory. Is this accurate? I'm asking because I have a Wegner Jr. that is just about a year old and the liner is getting rather close to the far scale when engaged. The knife really hasn't seen any hard use as it mainly just sits clipped in my pocket and opens an occasional letter once in a while. This fear of "wearing out" the knife has caused me to carry it less and less and I baby it when opening and closing. Is this something I should be concerned about or is this something that the warranty would normally cover?
Thanks,
Ross

The liner lock wearing out I'd also consider normal, after several or rather many years of service.

Actually, I thought that this had happened on my Terzuola C15, which I've had since they were new. But it turned out that it's actually the missing screw (which I haven't replaced yet, but will when I find a similar one) which makes the rest of the construction "loose". Squeeze the sides together tightly, and the miniscule (didn't really notice it before it was retired this winter) play disappears and the leaf doesn't get as near the far side.

I haven't mistreated it, but neither have I been very careful to open it slowly.

It's hard to say without looking at it, but I can say with some degree of certainty that nearly every person that sends a knife in for warranty consideration is pleased with the results, whether the knife is repaired or replaced, or just reconditioned to the best of our ability. I would encourage you to send it in. The written warranty is a guideline, but most of you know Spyderco colors outside the lines sometimes. As should any company concerned with ELU satisfaction.
