Light but solid EDC Knife

im just gonna throw it out there that the best loghweight edc is a RAT izula i know its prob not what your looking for but youd be reallyimpressed if you gav eone a try and theyre relativley inexpensive for what you get.

If you can get your hands on one... A Spyderco Rookie. It's so slim and light you won't even notice it's in your pocket. The G10 feels really great and only one side of the handle is steel lined. It helps that it looks pretty nice too. The FG version should still be available.

I heartily second or third the benchmade McHenry Williams 707 sequel-- lighter and stronger than the mini grip, while maintaining a very slim profile. Plus the axis lock is a dream. In fact I think I will take it out of my pocket right now and go find something to cut :D

three knives I tried recently are the kershaw skyline, spyderco centofante 3, and benchmade 530. All quite light but the benchmade 530 is in a class of its own.

Lots of light (<2.5 oz) knives are either thick (spyderco + other frn), narrow (al mar), or small. The benchmade 530 is light (1.9 oz) but has a big 3.25" blade, a wide handle, and is super thin (8-9mm w/o clip by my measurement). Of course, the 530's light structure means it is not a hard use knife, but for its intended purpose I think it is pretty solid and reliable.

I also like the skyline though. love the flipper, blade shape, and the way the flipper turns into a really nice guard. it feels like a tough little knife. Actually most g10 knives feel pretty tough. I also got a crkt drifter g-10 and it is pretty awesome for $17 :D

buck mayo tnt is supposed to be quite thin and light as well.

+1 on the 530, lot of knife in a thin, light package. Many other good choices listed above. Not sure how thin and light you want, I just picked up a Sage and it is quite light though not quite as thin as other FRN knives. BM 943 is a very nice choice, highly recommend it.

I'm a big fan of my Kershaw Leek, I just wish the blade had a different shape. The point is too thin to be able to justify using it for a lot of the heavier cutting I tend to do. I usually end up carrying my JYDII

I recently picked up and Al-Mar Falcon and Eagle and I am absolutely amazed at how light and comfortable they are to carry. So then I got to thinking are there any other very light but solid EDC Knives out there???

Staying with your original maker, the Nomad comes to mind. The one I had was outstanding as a 3" EDC knife. In fact, it was a little lighter than I really like, but it was solid and dependable.

Other than the Nomad, I'd look at something from Spyderco in either FRN or linerless G10. If you like slippies, the UKPK is a solid EDC knife in S30V and G10. My fav EDC Spyderco is a Caly 3 in G10. It has liners and a backlock, but the size and weight are just about perfect for me.

Any FRN Spyderco,
a few of the Victorinox 111 knives
Kabar Dozier folders
Buck Bucklites
