Light duty gloves?

well...
the part that's protecting you isn't the kevlar, most of the time
only the back of the hand and the top of the fingers are kevlar, and i believe that it's there to protect from burns and heat (they do say it's meant for grenadiers ;) )
if you're worried about the palm of your hand, the normal solag will do, i find

skyline gj with the references-- been looking for those gloves-- do they run big? I'm on the job in jersey and I need gloves that won't cut but retain a tactile feeling.Lagger looks like a good place

Hehe, I haven't received my gloves from 1SKS yet. I ordered the large, and I hope they aren't too small. I used the Blackhawk size chart. I'm sort of a large...but I could stretch my hands to XL too. I guess I'll find out and let you know what I think of them!

Hope to get them soon...

solag won't cut?
uhm
they aren't that easy to cut, that's true, but i sure as hell won't pit my hands against a knife :(
what i suggest is you get the spectra glove liner to wear underneath the solag, assuming you need the extra protection

The blackhawk solag kevlar WILL GET CUT, when i got them i was testing them to see what they will take, while playing around changing grips with my CRKT M18 sometimes i would find myself holding the blade  But since its my EDC and i only polish it up to 600 grit it did not cut the gloves, then i made the mistake of trying to see if my PCKS 110 w/BG42 would cut it, this knife is razor sharp and is stropped up to a 9000+ grit finish. it cut the kevlar like it was butter, i was testing and knew it could and only cut a 4mm slit but it cut all right. So they are slash resistant not slash proof.

Gloves are a consumable. If you wear them frequently, gloves wear out. $200.00 Kevlar/Leather/Carbon Fiber (no kidding) motorcycle racing gloves wear out, even if you don't crash in them.

I have no experience with the more exotic Kevlar reinforced gloves mentioned here, and am not sure of the usefullness of a tactical assault glove for everyday work, but I can tell you that the Mechanix line of gloves offers remarkable protection, great dexterity and are affordable. When they wear out or accidentally get left on a jobsite, you won't be heartbroken, you'll just buy another pair. It seems like the multiple closures on the tac gloves would make taking them on and off a pain.

I currently have a pair of the Dale Earnhart Mechanix (I think the Impact) which is funny because I'm not a NASCAR fan, but I like the gloves anyway.

I just got my S.O.L.A.G gloves in Large.

I have a question about the fit. How tight are they supposed to be length-wise? If my fingers are slightly curled, they seem to be a perfect fit. If I try to flatten my hand, it's really very tight and I have to make quite an effort. Is this correct? I suspect this might be correct since when I close my hand, there is no slack at the finger tips (or very very little).

Not sure if I should have gotten them in X-Large. I usually get Medium or Large for gloves, and I don't think my hands are big at all.

Besides that, the gloves are very nice! I like them very much. :D

Did you ever try the glove sizing chart for the gloves? My hands seem pretty average size, but I measured to be an extra-large...

Yeah I tried the chart. I seemed to be in the Large range, but if I stretch my fingers out a bit, I neared the XL range. I'm an in-betweener. :grumpy:

Hmm..

i'm in between medium and large
i stuck with the medium
it was a tight fit at first, and the fingers were being filled up when my hand was flattened
but when i used them regularly it got nice and snug, no issues
