Canmanstan,

Great look'n knife. Scales came out great. I bought some jade green from you last month. Almost finished the handle on my Becker blank. What did you use on the scales to make the so shiny?

Thanks
Trevor

Thanks for the comments.
I am new at this and learning. This knife is light jade green, the jade green you bought should be darker and more true to the jade color.
I use high gloss tung oil, about 4 coats. It works good at protecting the micarta from getting dirty and makes a nice shine also.
The pins and blade blank were bought on ebay from premiumknifesupply.inc..
I am making these knives from my materials to showcase some of my knife scale blanks. The true color is sometimes hard to tell from a rough scale blank, so i am including pics of these knives i made along with the listings to better help everyone chose a color.
I would love to see your knife pammachon when you get it finished.

Sure is, almost exactly. And semi-translucent just like margaretia too. I could have used your help in picking out a name for this color a while back. My next handle will be a darker jade, i will just call that jade. Will post pics for all to see if it comes out ok.

Beautiful..

How do you make translucent micarta like that? I thought micarta was always made by different layers of cloth or paper and therefore opaque.

I do not personally make it myself. This material is profesionally made. This light jade shade of g10 is different than most g10 out there. The layers are there but they are thinner and not so prominent as some other epoxy resin laminates. I just made a hidden tang with this stuff and cannot see through it to see the hidden tang. So it is semi-translucent at the most.
