Light, slim, non-locking traditional folder for pocket – Help me choose

Rough Rider Improved Muskrat. Thin and two great blades. Don't be scared of a longer knife, thickness and overall bulk is what makes for a heavy brick in the pocket that you're unlikely to carry. A 4" "melon tester" will be easier to carry than a 3.25" Multitool, for instance.

Case pen, peanut, are also good candidates and can be found affordably.

I found the case peanut is the same thickness as the case slimline trapper. The slimline is long but surprisingly unnoticeable plenty of blade and rather inexpensive, the peanut has less blade length, same thickness but two blades, since they are not screw drivers they both will last a lifetime if properly used. I would suggest the slimline if farming, hunting, work, ect. Is your primary use. The peanut if more office, box cutting, clean nails, cut strings would be your uses.

They make a double bolstered slimline now? Mine is from 74 and bareheaded.

Case Mini Copperhead, just a tad longer than a Peanut but slim in size.
G2

forgot to mention, welcome to the forums and a great place to start your first post! :)

Wow, it sure has been good fun to look up all your recommendations - I'm still going on some of them.

I'm guessing that Case is sold at a much more reasonable price state-side than here in the UK - it is not a particularly cheap brand here. Case knifes are 'typically' 5-10x the price of the Rough Rider copies. For instance, just looked up a Case Peanut at a popular uk source, and it is £46 which google tells me is $64 at the moment (at same source the RR peanut is £7). I'm guessing me asking for stuff down at the cheap end didn't translate too well.

So what are the uk knife fans doing - importing? Its worth noting that uk ebay doesn't allow any knifes at all, so even 2nd hand isn't hugely easy. Or are there euro brands that are good mid-quality stuff at good prices?

Thanks all!

My vote is for the case mini copperhead. A shade longer than the peanut, and a shade thinner. 2 blades, on a single spring.

Buy from e-bay us or fr or de. That way you can get at what you want at better prices..

There are many other routes ,but with no pm available it will be difficult letting you know.

Let me contact someone who does a lot of second hand shop browsing in the UK. I'm sure there's a lot of good sheffield made examples that would fit the bill. Oh and welcome to the porch!

Slimline trapper.

Case makes one in SS now, I believe they offer a model in yellow delrin and CV. Queen offers one, make sure yours comes with an edge, mine didn't, not much of a bevel either, but when I had it reprofiled with a new edge, it was a great slicer. Last but not least, the GEC 48 is a little bigger, but still a fine knife, some were offered with wider blades, but I had a slimline version 48 I gave to my brother in law.

Rough Rider has a nice trapper lock. I have Case and Boker Tree versions and, for fit and finish, the RR is right up there.
