An Opinel #7 or #8 hits all of your main criteria.

One thing to emphasize about the Opinels is that while they are incredibly tough knives (as you would expect from a knife made for farming), they are about the size and shape of a folding paring knife with a tick more belly. This explains why so many people like them for food prep use. Not only do the thin blades slice well, but their long profile makes them very useful for reaching into jars, spreading cream cheese and mustard. Much better than a pointier blade shape, imo.

As for being attractive... that is in the eye of the beholder. The 7 and 8 stock versions are pretty plain looking but the premium wood models (check out the olive wood) and the painted models (pink?) are also very sharp looking.

I love my Spyderco's, but I also enjoy carrying the Rat folders as well. As stated above, they are a tremendous value and very hard to beat for the money. And they have more options when it comes to blade configuration (satin vs. black; plain vs. serrated):

The Rat 2 with pink scales is exactly what my wife carries right now. She's been eyeing small fixed blades lately, but she loves that folder.
