Here is a spike hawk I forged from a 16 oz. ball pein smaller than usual--ash haft file branded and contoured, those j-flex belts are great, easy to split also used one on the transition from spike to the eye--Thanks for looking:thumbup:-Regards Butch

A very nice hawk. I prefer the lighter weight hawks that pack a lot easier.

Beautiful piece. Did you have any trouble re-drifting the eye? What color did you temper the piece to? Tempered both ends?

That's my kinda hawk Butch, beautiful work as always. Do you use a 2 X 72 grinder Butch? Did you mean you're splitting your belts to 1 inch?

Best rgards

Robin

Love it, love it love it. Nice matching the sheath color to the haft as well. Is there some way to obtain some of your work for those so inclined? :D

Thanks guys,Robin yes I have a 2 by 48 and 2 by 72 homebuilt grinders. You can actually split these belts to 1/2" if you keep the tension a little less tight---Sguarepeg,yes redrifting the eye can be a challenge, much easier to keep straight on square stock and yes I cheat and mill the slot out on them:rolleyes:----except on the rr spike hawks I hot slit them......Regards Butch

Nice looking work Butch. Glad to see some more good stuff coming out of the "Old North State"! Been a long time since I was in Shelby last. Send me some of that delicious North Carolina Pork Bar-B-Que.

Very nice....looks like you forged the max out of that small head. I like the sheath also, still trying to figure out the inside rivet on the underside.

looks great sir. amazing light weight hawk. I like the lighter versions for the same reason as mossy. easier to pack and quicker in the hand.
