anyone got plans on how to make one or any tips and tricks to making one? could i just build a box and for the lights just solder together a bunch of white LEDs?

Im assuming your talking about a light box to develop stencil film in?
if so your answer is no. needs to be white flourescent light (use one of those curly ones that is the highest wattage you can find). there are plans all over the net on hoe to build them thats all I did was research it for a few min. then build one........works great.

im talking mroe about a lighted display box for knives. im trying to find a better way to take high quality photos of knives. one of these days ill get a better camera.

well that answered my question. now i know that you filter the light thru a white sheet to soften it and help equalize the lighting. if i dont make sense its cause im on the insomnia train again. HEHEHE!!! however those links do make sense to me.

You can get collapsable tent style light boxes on ebay for cheap.

Wally World has a neat small setup with everything for $50. Lights included.

Total waste of money. Listen to nobody until you've seen their photos.
Got a window? It's about all you need.
Ya gotta shoot at night, follow Coop's tutorial.

I used some scrap cardboard and a sheet of paper to make a little lean-to box. light from (2)75 watt Daylight flourescents. Makes decent pics for the cost of a couple lights.

Best advice in the thread. Knives need a specific type of lighting and with Phil's (or my) guidance in the above tutorial threads you will nail it.

Get it right with daylight and you don't have to spend a penny.... ;)
