Lightening the pull on a slip joint.

md, thanks for the follow up. This suggests that it is best to open/close a blade a few hundred times before rounding the tang corners. Geometry, dimensions, pivot placement and spring thickness surely are carefully worked out in the design stage of folder making. Perhaps it is taken into account that spring tension will soften a little with use so the design purposely makes the tension high, with the idea that once 'broken in' it will be perfect ?
Perhaps Eric will comment on this.
