Lighter dunk test video - peanut, butane, mini bic

Storl,
Cool video but I think you test is a bit biased. Try dunking the Peanut without the cover and you will get similar results as the first two.
Is the peanut liquid fuel based? That is another downside.

I still prefer a Bic and I can tell you how to get it going immediately after it goes for a swim.
First shake out as much water as possible.
Then blow on the top of the lighter as you did in the video. But now run the flint wheel on your pants in both directions; forward and backwards. I have done this numerous times and can get a Bic going instantly with this method.

about dunking with the cover of the peanut lighter off- it seams to me that the point is to show the lighter, as it would be in your pocket, and how well it would work if for instance you fell in a river while crossing. the peanut is protected, it is part of the design.

handy tip on the bic by the way.

Yeah, the point was that the lighter comes waterproof, and you don't have to do anything special to it. I know you can modify a Bic or butane to be waterproof, but why not just get one that way in the first place? Plus, it is made out of steel, which makes everything better.

As far as biased, of course it was. I knew what the result would be, which is why I made the video for my friend in the first place. :)

I am working on testing out about 20 different firestarters, and do not know how that will turn out, so that test will actually be unbiased. I hope to have it done in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks for the tip on the Bic, I'll have to try that.

storl - Thanx for the test. Where did you get your peanut lighter?

Thanx

Oregon over at CPF did a group buy a long while back. If he does not sell them anymore, countycomm.com still does.
