It has a full LENGTH tang but you are right. The tang protrudes from the back of the Thermorun handle about 1/16". The dimensions of the section running the length of the handle is .2" thick and .75" wide. It's also worth noting that the steel that the VG10 is in-cased in is very flexible under stress, its soft 420j stainless while the edge is VG-10 (HT is exceptional). I was wary about this when I bought it. Honestly though when I held it for the first I couldn't believe it existed. A well made, thick, strong, light knife that does what I knife should......actually cuts AND splits stuff well. The thing is like a lightsaber through wood. A lot of people thing that strength and cutting efficiency are mutually exclusive. Not so with the S1 or A1. Ill send you an email.

Extremely light?!? it is over 7 oz. That is light for a "regular" fixed blade, but won't cut it for what I need. (<5oz)
Street Bowie--I guess I looked at the wrong knife before. It is a contender, I just don't love the shape.
I've heard great things about the S1. However, it isn't full tang. Even so, could you email me where you can buy it for $135?
