...So, after my refund due to the deceptive pictures and inaccurate description by the person who sold this to me, I'm sitting on a basically free Applegate-Fairbairn with a broken corroded tip and a lot of sheathing marks. Who should I be sending this to for a regrind and restoration?

Sounds like a plan. I'll be excited to bring this back to working order and then put it to work :)

Would Cerakote hold up against sheathing marks? I'm considering getting fancy with this.

For the most part, yes. It will get some smooth/shinier spots after repeated sheathings/unsheathings, but it should hold up just fine. I've had a ton of experience with Cerakote in the firearms world, and prep/application is highly important. Make sure you get someone reputable to do it, and you should be good to go. Most of the Cerakote issues come from a poor prep job, or an improper mix of Cerakote/hardener. If you use the right amount of hardener, it is highly durable stuff.

Good luck, and nice score.

Send it to REK; he'll fix it up for ya.

My AF Gerber folder tip looked exactly like that one LOL - fell tip down onto concrete and mashed the heck out of the point. I had to take off a fair bit of metal to reshape it but it turned out pretty decent IMHO.

Holy shit someone actually sold that you with that description?..from here?

Believe it or not, it was Boker USA INC out of Lakewood, CO via their eBay account. They've been offloading a number of store display models and this is the only one I had any interest in and bought it immediately. I shot them an email with those pictures and their only response so far has been to issue a refund (no accompanying message or anything) - which, hey, I mean, a full refund leaves me with $82 to ply towards fixing the knife, which is already en route to REK after a brief exchange with Josh. He's going to see if it can be taken down for Cerakote as the handle wouldn't survive the temperatures involved - it'll just be tip repair and refinishing otherwise.

REK to the rescue!

And a really nice stonewash to boot, leaving the etched signatures intact:

Josh did a very nice job on your Applegate-Fairbairn, especially regarding the bevels in the point area.
I know from experience how difficult it can be to make those new bevels come together exactly with the center line in the dagger blade.
