I ordered a set of lightning strike carbon fiber scales for my Contego and i just got them back from Keyman. I am loving these scales! Its my first time handling lightning strike scales and im blown away by the way they look and feel.

The scales are smooth so they wont tear up my pants, yet the Contegos handle shape and jimping still provide an excellent grip.

My Contego is one of my duty knives, and i carry it in my left side cargo pant. It does not come with a lanyard hole and i've found it can be hassle to grab with winter gloves, so I've mounted a standard split arrow clip, to provide a bigger "pinch" area when grabbing the knife.

The cell phone pics do not do these scales justice, but its the best i can do at the moment. You should see how it sparkles in the sunlight.

Keymans work is excellent and i highly recommend him if youre looking for custom scales.

Wow, that looks great. The handle shape gives plenty of grip, it looks awesome without the extra ridges on the original scales.

Gorgeous scales. What's going on with your thumb stud?

That's a blue G-10 pin. Some time ago i got some grooved blue G-10 scales for it from Cuscadi. I removed the studs prior to shipping and Cuscadi put a matching blue G-10 pin in the hole. I didnt like the scales, so they went back, but i loved the pin, so i kept it there.

I'm really not into Benchmade but then again I never owned one either. If I were though, the Contego or Rift would be my first choice. The LSCF add a who new dimension to the knife. Looks good!

Those look fantastic!
I was considering grinding the jimping off of my contego, but the slightly oversized scales are a better solution. This way the jimping can still be useful if you really have a death grip on the knife.

Those look amazing! Much nicer than the original ones. Is Keyman a member here? I'd love to get in touch with him.

Thanks all...it feels just as good in the hand, as it looks! I was torn between the grooved blue G-10 and the lightning strike carbon. Im glad i went with the carbon.

Those LSCF scales look fantastic!:thumbup: Makes it classy and not just a work knife!

Big fan of the Contego with CPM-M4 and surprisingly actually like the current scales.

Thanks. Thats exactly what it is now, a work knife with class!

I liked the stock scales too. The edges were, just like the Rift, way too sharp but 5 mins with a small file took care of that. The problem with them though, is that the texture on them destroys the pockets in no time. The worst part was the area near the pivot. The fix was to sand them smooth, which helped alot.
