That is interesting Yvsa.
That is how I cam to be interested in khukuris!

The crysknife was based upon the Kard. I was shooping around for a new kard when I found this site!

I thought the crysknife was more like a Morrocan Flyssa with the nice curve to the blade like a saber?
Is a Kard a curved blade? Never mind, in my search I saw several kards as well, see below...

Well I went looking for the proper way to spell flyssa and now I have to do some more research on the two knives I have that I was told one was a flyssa. However the flyssa has a pretty much straight blade instead of the curved blades like my knive's have.
That's one of the problems with some ethnographic edged weapons, just when you think you have figured out what you got it ain't what you thunk it was. :grumpy:

I looked at a million knives before I was happy with my conclusions. Frank Herbert described a knife with a 20 cm blade, no handguard, a ridge down the back of the blade, made from the bone (tooth) of a sandworm.

I discovered a kard made by atlanta cutlery with a very similar proportion, damascus blade, no handguard, and the handle made of the bone of a camel.

Now, this is all my theory, but I think the ideas represented were just as important as the actual numbers involved.
I think I displayed that knife in the khukuri dvd, didnt I ?
(memory going)

(man, that flyssa is a big razor!)
