Recommendation? Lightweight 4” EDC under $250

My blurple PM2 is my current fave EDC, and my largest.

I’d like to have a 4” option to add to my rotation.

I’m loving the full-size Crooked River in jade, but I’m wondering if there isn’t anything just a little lighter.

Around $250.

Do you guys have any recommendations?
 
Spyderco Military, Native Chief, Chinook 4, Amalgam, Manix XL, etc. Probably forgot a few.

That being said, if you don't mind a little longer, the Knifecenter Police 4 in Pakkawood is still there. Outstanding piece.

I love these longer slicers ....

Another vote for the CS Recon 1. With the remaining $, maybe try to find some custom G10 scales for it?
 
1+ to Millitary. Long, light, ergonomic, smooth.

I have a cold steel broken skull and it's okay, definitely below your budget but quality is a step below the millitary.

ZTs are fairly big too, but my vote is still with the Millitary.
 
Spyderco Military, ZT 0452, Benchmade 710, and Cold Steel Recon 1 are the top four 4" folder that I recommend.

With $250 you can buy two brand new Recon 1s, maybe one spear point or clip point and another tanto. BM 710 is discontinued but I see it shows up in the Exchange once in a while and well below $250.
 
Of all your options, I would go for the Crooked River. If that's what caught your eye to begin with, I think you'll be pretty happy with it. The Crooked River is my favorite knife in the 4" blade range.

Love the scales on the Mili and serrated blade. I've carried a very similar version the serrated police since about 1990. Just recently started checking out the different Cold Steel stuff. Another good knife is the AD10 slick as snot at least mine is. I like that red handled knife is that a CR?

Man, this awesome thread has truly made me rue my prolonged absence from this place.

I went through all the great suggestions, poring over specs and images. Because sadly I will have to order online.

I'm a little biased against Spyderco here — really, just because I have several and would prefer to get something different — but even so, the Police and Military Pakkawood are tremendous suggestions. The Pakkawood looks great.

Right now, it's looking like the ZT 452 CF, but the Crooked River is still in the running.
