Looking for a knife of the same size & style as the 110 (no pocket clip!). Any comments on the following models:

Lansky Large Lockback

Colonial Ranger (LB-125)

Puma Knives 77352020 Part Serrated Bead Blast Tec Large Lightweight Lockback

Not sure how much lighter any of the above are and I know they won't be of the same quality as a Buck.....but likely OK for my EDC purposes.

If you are willing to spend the (ahem) bucks, you can still find the Buck Ecolite on the auction sites. They demand crazy dollars though. Please write Buck and tell them to bring back the Ecolite.

Or you can search the auction sites for the Buck Bucklite 426.

Finally, another current Buck is the Bucklite Max Large folder. It has pocket clips but 5 minutes with a dremmel tool and you can have the offending clip off. I've done that on a few.

Really wish the Ecolite would come back.

One reason to stick with Buck is the quality of their steel. It's really great stuff.

Another off the wall suggestion for EDC (not hunting) is the Opinel #9 or #10. Very tough knives and the stainless is on par with Bucks.

How about the Queen/S&M Mountain Man? It's smaller and possible to pocket carry this one. Unless you're backpacking, I don't see much reason to not carry the Buck 110 or one of the similar knives in a belt pouch. I always liked the old Schrade versions.

Years ago, I would have suggested one of the Gerber Gator's (USA made #650) which are a lot lighter and about the same size as the Buck. Mine says Gerber a Fiskar company on the pouch. I think quality has dropped off, but haven't really paid much attention to them since. I have one of these that I picked up in Walmart years ago that served as a hunting knife for a few years. It worked just fine. They should be available on fleabay since they were as common as dirt for years.
