To start with I have several folders but none of them are exactly right. I have two Kershaws, a LEEK and Needs Work. The handle on the LEEK is to slick for my comfort and the blade is too short. The handle on the Needs Work is a really hard plastic and not comfortable. I also have a Buck 110, but its just too heavy to carry in my pocket and I dont want it on my belt. I'd really like a 560 but havent been able to find one. Basically Im looking for suggestions on what to get, the blade has to be under 4 inches, its gotta be lightweight and comfortable to use. Any help would be great.

Agree wist Sage & Sage 2. Also think about the Caly 3
The Spyderco Endura G10 can now be found discounted. Easy to carry.

Endura comes in at a hair under 4", delica at a hair under 3", both are outstanding options, and waved versions are available if that's your thang. Caly 3 is great here also. These are my fave lighter-weight knives in this size.

Get a Zing from Wally World - $39 - if you like kershaw you should also like this one.

I carried a composite leek for over a year straight, and the zing has displaced it.

It has one of the best hand fit and surface finish and material combinations I have held, and the flipper is awesome (give it a day to break in a bit)

Spyderco Stretch 2
Kershaw RAM
Kershaw Skyline
Spyderco Para

Tones of good knives out there that fit the bill.

Props for the Grip and mini Grip - both great knives. You got to want the scales though. For lightweight, low profile in the pocket and a dose of all around cool, how about this:

Benchmade 960 Osborne.

D2 is a little harder (more work) to get a good edge on, but once you've done it, its a very nice little knife. My only reservation about it is that its small in the hand, but its my current daily carry.

Thanks a ton guys. I really dont like the way the Spyderco looks, but I am thinking about the Mini Grip or an Osborne from BM. What do you guys think about the knives from CRKT? I like the Mini MyTighe they have.

Ditto BM Grip/mini grip - prefferably the ritter versions. Or Delica or Endura - all good. The BM's are one handed open and close knives if that is useful.

I prefer both to CRKTs

Any Grip or Mini-Grip would make a good purchase. If you want one in D2, they can be had at Cabela's.

Another vote for the Kershaw Skyline. My fav EDC for its light weight (2.5 oz.).

The Endura Joe mentioned is another good choice towards the bigger end but still under 4". Especially nice is the G-10 version with full flat grind VG-10 blade.

CS Medium Voyager is very lightweight, I have EDC'd one in my front pocket for a few years. Very basic knife, no assisted opening or anything but great EDC. Dunno if you will find the handle/scales uncomfortable but it seems to strike a good balance of comfort and grippiness for me.

I like the waved Delica (and if you try one you might find the shape/design grows on you--I thought it was ugly when I first saw it but grew to like it) but if you are not going to use the pocket clip it's pretty big in the pocket, the wave adds height. Or breadth; whatever.

Spyderco Paramilitary or Caly 3 .
Para has big handle that makes it more practical for me, caly small knife with really sharp blade .

I just got one of these. Very nice F/F, (classic Kershaw) but mine seems not to be the sharpest out of the box. How about yours?

Im really leaning towards the Osborne 960 after doing some more research on some other knives. My only question is about the AXIS lock. Is it just a lock or is it also an assist? I know that BM has the AXIS and the AXIS-Assist, their definitions are just really confusing. Oh and is $135 too much for the 960?
