Lightweight hawk for wood processing

I have a Bahco folding saw that I bring but It didn't see any action on this trip.... too busy with my new toy. :)

My Kabar USMC, however, did kill and gut a Walleye!

I'm actually thinking about dropping my saw and USMC from my kayaking gear. I think a hard use folder and my axe will be sufficient. It gets tough trying to pack everything you need into a small river touring kayak. I don't even bring water. Just a filter for river water. Unless I know I'll be using it... it's probably better left at home (with the exception of first aid).

I am with you with that. After trying all possibilities for quite a few years I'm now carrying only a fixed blade (a real scandi) and an axe. I am about to replace the axe with a traditional hawk to see how it goes. For short hikes it is only a SAK farmer and an AFCK.

Cool beans. A folder and an axe is a great setup. Lots of ways to skin this cat. :D

Arrived today. Hammerhead tomahawk. Together with the scandi knife it will be my basic tool for outdoors.

Thanks mate. I made a simple leather edge cover (I'll avoid the pics :D ) and I will carry it the traditional/indian way (inside my belt :o )

The maker is from Poland and he is not a member here AFAIK so I think I cannot post the link of his website.
