Like a disease - contagious??

The last week of November I lost (actually as it turned out "misplaced" is more accurate) the Uncle Henry that I'd carried for more than 20 years (and yes, it had altered a few calves in it's time too!).
I started to look for a replacement only to find the company had gone under. Now, since I haven't room for more Persian rugs unless I started hanging them from the walls (something I wasn't about to do!) I decided I start gathering a few knives to put a collection together for each of my children and grandchildren.
Ignorance is bliss (and I can truly attest to that) so I started to gather Old Timer and Uncle Henry pocket knives (thanks to Canada Customs I was "limited" to pocket knives!).
The "gathering" is on-going, and it now appears that it will never cease!
Thanks to all who have contibuted to my scant knowledge, it is growing slowly.
Happy New Year to all.

Let me know when you would like to take a major jump into full addiction I have few (100) that I can spare ( I would not want to deplete the collection ). I can't wait until I give everyone the real disease the old ones ( evil laugh) HEH HEH HEH schrade Waldens 46-72, Schrade Cuts 04-46. in bone and cell high end editions under Schrade. These babys never to be made again and I have them all ( evil laugh) HEH HEH HEH. Wait until the first time you have the firm tight grip of a folding fishermans pride solid hard and firm filling your entire clenched hand. Let me tell you it is like being 13 years old and home alone on a rainy day with your first copy of playboy. Some people say that I take this knife collecting to serious. Some people say I am like a drug pusher in the way I cause people to get hooked on these little tools. Words like obsessive cumpulsive drift into the conversation but we who have the disease understand. I remember reading on a bathroom wall when I was much younger, SUPPORT NUCLEAR ENERGY (MUTATE). this hobby is kind of like that only, different. Perhapes more like another great bathroom wall sentiment SUPPORT MENTAL HEALTH ( OR WE WILL KILL YOU ).

OK the above posting is my idea of a rather strange joke perhapes it is not so far off. Please be generous when you read it in that it is NEW Years Eve which like Christmas I will be celebrating with Buster D Cat. GEE I really love the holidays ( when they are over ). Actually MY holidays are a lot better than many peoples this year and I do realize it. Postings like the above are just a way to vent and perhapes step back and look at things by tilting you head a little so that we can see things from just a little different angle. Ever notice how when you talk to a animal they will sometimes do that. They consider us there masters and are only trying to understand ( just like us trying to understand the master ).

As I leave this year I remember the words of one of the inmates who had snuck up and hurt a couple of officers he was a nasty small man. Part of his attitude was do to the hand, life had dealt him. Unfortunately he was still nasty and still small. The officers had finally gotten him down ( for a small man he was extremely agile tough and quite fearless. Again his childhood would have made a great book on abuse ) However that is not an excuse for acting like an idiot and in JAIL as they say you get what your hand calls for. That being said I the SGT ( at that time, arrived on the scene ). The inmate was still fighting even with a 250 lb officer pinning him down. As I got there the officer was turning his head around ( like in the EXORCIST ). I yelled the order "just hold him", just as the officer hit him full in the face with his fist. The sound was like the thump of dropping a pumpkin combined with a squish ( like a ripe tomatoe). The officer heard my order and never threw another punch ( really one was enough ). But the part of the story and my reason for telling it are what happened next. The mans face looked like berry pie that had been stepped on. Still this angry little man looked out from that spattered face sprinkled with teeth like chiclets and spat out the words . "IS THAT ALL YA GOT".? So on that note I say to 2004 you stinking war, tidal wave.famine.Schrade closing year you have done your worst and we are still here "IS THAT ALL YA GOT" ? LT PS I do miss Guy Lombardo

Oh yeah, LT, it's contagious.. you got us hooked, that's for sure.

Glad you joined us, Del. That oughta be a nice collection you're passing on to the kids. Good for you.

If you're still trying to replace that Uncle Henry, Smoky Mountain Knife Works has supposedly bought the ramaining Schrade stock. The Schrade knives haven't been in any of the mailed catalogs yet, but you can see them online at www.eknifeworks.com. They have a fair selection of Old Timers and a few Uncle Henry knives, all at discounted prices.

I ordered a dozen or so Old Timers that arrived today. My 'accumulating' continues...

Thanks Bob,

My "friend" was only misplaced. I had a rug rolled up at the foot of my bed as I was rearranging my collection, and when I moved the rug I saw "something" from the corner of my eye.

Upon inspection I found it was my knife that I had agonized over losing (and, I was starting to wonder since I hadn't felt or heard anything when it "went missing")!

Now, a few bucks (actually - quite a few!!) later, I have my knife back in my pocket (more room since there's a lot fewer dollars?), and, a start on collections for the 'young people' as well as myself. :-)
