No kidding. WOW, Like ya said-At least he acted and stopped the nut ball.

In another thread we were talking about how useful any old hatchet would be in an actual fighting situation. This is a good example of how effective they can be.

I always get a chuckle when I hear people talking about 'tactical hawk training' where you learn how to hook your opponent. So you're in a fight for your life, you have a hawk in your hand and you're gonna hook?!!? your opponent? Sorry, but I'm gonna smash smash smash my opponent. Good luck with that hook thing.

Good and unfortunatly bad people in all walks of life. This guy helped others with out regard for his own safety. Hope he hits the lottery and can spend his life surfing in peace.

This guy is the best! He actually did something to help people out. Sorry he is not the "norm" but he is living his life the way he wants. One fine American.

Why does the reporter never move the mic closer to his own face? Is this his first interview?

I saw another follow-up interview done with this guy. Really interesting fellow! He is actually a Canadian by origin, grew up somewhere in Western BC, but he doesn't like to provide a lot of details about his life. Sounds like he came from a pretty hard environment. I think it is really inspirational that he was able to get himself out of it and keep a truly positive point of view on things.

There are a lot of people that would not have helped, saving someones life is something to be proud of

I found it pretty wild that a "Hatchet-Wielding Hitchhiker" was the hero in a news story.
...also the nutcase on the receiving end of "smash, smash, smaaash!" had non-life threatening injuries.

That guy scares me.
Why?
Alot of times people are not who and what they seem. By most accounts Ted Bundy was a nice guy.
This young hitch hiker is capable of extreme violence, but it is channeled right. What would you have done?
He is no coward. He did what was right.

+1
He may have his own issues but at least he stood up for what was right at the time he was called upon, how many others can say the same.

Hooking is used to pull your opponent off balance so you can smash him without him smashing you back.
