:o I'm lurking. I don't usually come here and never post here, but I've been reading some of the posts. It IS like a different world when you go into a part of the forum where you don't normally go and find that there are people there you never see anywhere else. A lot of good and interesting info in here though.

I sharpen knives for commercial customers (restaurants, butchers, cafeterias, etc.) four days a week. I don't know much about making knives or most of the other things you all probably know a lot about, but I can put an edge on a kitchen knife, lol. And I work in our store on Saturdays, which is a knife shop and kitchen store but used to be just knives when I used to manage it, so I learned a lot about knives then. I can also flip a balisong well enough to impress customers. ;)

I posted this in here because it's off-topic and seemed like the place to post it. I also like the name of this forum, Around the Grinder, because it made me think "I'm always around the grinder" referring to my coworkers! Anyone else here a member of the NYGA? Just curious. Anyone else sharpen commercial knives?

Oh yeah, and I followed a certain knife maker here after mentioning him on another forum and doing a search... I wonder if he knows who he is...? ;)

Thanks for letting me visit!

I wouldn't dream of it after seeing what happens when things are posted in the wrong forum around here! Now quit following me. :p

Oh boy.....

I sense myself getting into trouble

:D
-Nick-

edited to add- Yep, Mark's right. 4'11" AND 393.75 lb. That dumb-ass in the pic is just some guy that I pay to work in the shop. :)

OH Boy do I see trouble coming! Get a woman in the Maker's Area and we will be fighting for her attention like a bunch of starving dogs fighting over a bone. ;)

On a serious note, welcome, you will find out soon enough that there is a darn good bunch of guys here, but I am the best by far. Nick aspires to be like me. :D ;) :D

Welcome to the knifemakers forum.

What is NYGA? I hope you didn't get it from a rap song.

NYGA = New York Grinders' Association. ;)

Nick, can I post your pic in that other thread?

Ashes, two of the places I am most thankful for information are here in Shoptalk and in the Wilderness Survival section.

Lots of people out there could use your sharpening skills, myself included. I see visions of "Ashes Sharpening Hour" in here. No, I'm not joking.

Thank God for carbon steel, because thats all I can put a good edge on ;)
