We have interest in a "thin" khukuri. In the world of Himalayan Imports this means 1/4 inch. But, let's have some fun. Let's ask for a khukuri that is 3/16 thick max and see what the kamis say and do.

I am thinking a Sirupati in the 18 to 20 inch range should be the one. They have made the 3/16 katana with good results. I think they might be able to do this Sirupati. If you have other ideas let's hear them.

This knife will not be advertised as the standard HI unbreakable, unbendable blade but an experimental model. It is not a prybar that cuts.

So, who wants one? Figure a price of $100.

Uncle Bill,
Sign me up for an 18" sirupati with a wooden handle and a 1/4"-thick blade.

1/4" will do me. Bo Randall thought 1/4" stock was right for the Model 1, and I've never had any problems with mine or heard of many others breaking.

My ideal would be in the same 18-20 in range, thin, but broad and fullered. Making it broad with fullers should help give it strength. Maybe a "Tin Chirra" or Dui Chirra, maybe something like this classic tin chirra blade from the Khukuri FAQ that I like the looks of.

With the additional fuller work and width, maybe the price would have to be higher.

Anyway, I'm interested in whatever we come up with, so add me to the list. If it's between the 3/16 and 1/4 sirupati, I'll go for the 3/16.

I think this could be the beginning of very popular line of khukuris without the "indestructible guarantee," and not necessarily at a lower price.

I remember someone here with a khukuri that would ring and sing when stroked with a file. I wonder if these will.

I have two Kumar Sirupatis on order (with right handed and left handed scabbards), so if they haven't been pounded-out yet, make them 1/4"-max.

Uncle,
What do you guess that the weight on these will be? Lighter than the Kobras? How thick is an 18" Kumar Kobra?

Put me down for a 24" Sirupati with a 3/16" blade and a horn handle. I'm looking for a machete replacement, this like just the thing. I won't have the money for about 2-3 weeks though, just so you know.

Uncle Bill, put me down for a 3-16 to 1/4 inch thick , 17 to 18 inch long Sirupati with saatisaal handle. If Bura is willing, make it into a dui chirra type blade if possible.

Uncle Bill,
If it's possible to make my quarter-incher a dui chirra I'd be eternally grateful.
