Hi Folks- :)

Here's one I just finished. The blade was forged quite a few years ago and ended up hidden away in a drawer. I came across it recently, decided to finish grind it, and it just sort of came together from there.

The blade consists of 3 opposing twisted bars (1084+15N20) forge welded together and then forged really close to shape. Some folks don't like the distortion of forging a billet like this, but in some cases I like it... it certainly shows the history of the steel being formed into the blade's profile. The guard and pin are 416 ss, the handle is some really rich Ironwood that I got from Mark Farley at BurlSource. :)

Please feel free to cuss and discuss. ;)

OAL- 12-1/8"
Blade- 7-1/16"L x 1-1/2"W x ~0.200" thick at the guard

Thanks for looking!

Lol up late Nick? I would be also if I finished that guy up. Very nicely done.

I love that 3x pattern as it almost throws the illusion of being a single overall pattern. Perfect fittings and handle, just wow.

On a scale of 1-10 I'd rate this one about a 12

Cheers...Pete

I love it Nick. Damascus is pretty cool and it's so very clean. Looks just about like perfection to me.

I think they should be forged to shape most of the time.
I don't really care if single twists or multi-bars or ladders or mosaics get stretched out some, if that's what it takes to create the blade on the anvil.
Nice lookin' knife, Nick.

This one causes me dissonance. I like it and I don't like it, if that makes any sense. If I look at it without focusing on the three bars, Its a 12, when I focus closely on the steel, it drops to a six for me. I don't mean any insult here. I am confused by my response to looking at this knife. Because of that I would and wouldn't buy it. Arrgghhh!!! Sighhhhh!!!!:confused::confused:

I like this one a whole bunch - but then I am a fan of multibar patterns. Really crisp, Nick.

Thanks guys!!!

Willie- I think I'm confused by your response looking at it too. :p ;) Don't get me wrong, I know it won't "do it" for everybody... I'm just not exactly sure where I lost 'ya. No worries, you'll like the next one! ;) LOL :) j/k

Thanks for checking this out guys. :)

Don't get me wrong, it's beautifully crafted. I just get a weird feeling when looking at the steel closely. I don't know how to put it into words. I am not criticizing this at all, but the pattern up close gives me a motion sickness sort of feeling. Looking at the whole knife I don't get that feeling. I know it sounds weird, and it feels weird. That pattern must be short circuiting some weird part of my brain. No insult intended here. It's sort of like looking at those double image pictures which change depending on the angle you look at them. I get the same sort of feeling looking at those. Great knife regardless of my weird perception.
