Just picked this beauty up locally and boy is this thing nice! Perfect size for EDC. I've never really been into large pocket knives and the PM2 is the biggest I've really carried. The 3+4=7 ratio that I've read by others really seems to be the best in my opinion. This may be a keeper.

I am really have trouble deciding between one of those or a Rubicon. Lil Lionspy seems like more knife for the money.

Very cool looking knife and looks very functional.

How do you think it compares with the CRKT HiJinx, or my favorite the Gayle Bradley?

The rubicon is very very smooth opening. Probably one of the smoothest I've played with. Got to play with that one also at the same shop. Just didn't dig he style.

On the lil lionspy, can anyone tell me what the pivot construction is and if there is a liner under the g10 side?

Thank you,

Of the two, I think the Lil Lionspy is a better knife for the money. I have a Rubicon and the original Spyderco Lionspy and honestly the Lionspy is just a nicer and more solid knife. (I also have the SR-2.)

The Lil LionSpy is a smaller and smoother LionSpy with the same high-quality build. Some comparison pictures of the Lil LionSpy next to its big brother and together with Sage 2 & LionSteel SR-2.

Great photos, as usual, Ram.

I wish Spydie would make more all-Ti models. I wonder what the thinking is in making scales that are just half-Ti.

Thanks.

Having G-10 on the non-lock side cuts down on the weight and cost plus for some added traction.

What is the 3+4=7 ratio thing?

Carl

Just blade length (3), handle length (4), OAL. 4" may be a good minimum useful handle length for a smallish EDC folder, same for 3" for blade length (particularly if 3 is a legal limit). Also about the size of the delica, so very familiar dimensions to a lot of folks. I like it, myself.

@dogrunner, thanks for clarifying that for Carl! Awesome pic comparison too @ramzar!

I just received my Lil Lionspy - I think it's a really well built knife.

I do have a question, however.

Is the detent supposed to be as WEAK as it is? I backed the pivot off to make it a bit faster so I could "flick" it, and the ultra-weak detent makes that difficult. I can see the detent ball just *barely* falls in the shallow detent well in the blade - like if that detent well was deeper, for better detent ball engagement, that would fix the "problem."

Before I do anything drastic like disassembling and attempting to modify the knife, I want to make sure that this is how it comes from the factory and isn't defective.

I can pretty easily snap the blade out by flicking my wrist with the blade fully closed and only holding the scales (not engaging the thumb hole at all.)

Thanks.
