Several years ago many of you met my little sis Jennifer at the H.I. Khukuri Convention here in Okla. At one time we even tried to auction her off on the forum. This is about the time we inherited Samuri Dave.

Tonight we had a little celebration for her. A going away party. After Sept.11 she enlisted in the Army. I have mixed emotions about the whole thing. Of course I am very pround of her but I dread her going away and worry about her a lot. She gets lots of prayers and I know God will protect her. Please keep her in your prayers. She will leave Sept.2 for O.K.C. If she passes her physical she will be off to Missouri and 6 weeks of vacation and fun. :rolleyes:

God Bless,
Sandi

I know the feelings you are having, as do many here on the forum, I'm sure. I will keep your sister, you and your family in our prayers for all of our sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers who are serving their country.

Ben,
Thank you for your prayers. She has already given up her computer, getting things packed away but I will print well wishes off for her.

My prayers will be with her too, Terry. If the lorsd hears us and I'm sure he does. She will be in good hands.:)

Let us know when they let her have sharp objects. Does she know how to harvest Rocky Mountain Oysters yet?

Terry, do you know what branch of the Army she is going to try and get?

Going to Leonard Wood, huh? Tell her I said good luck, and remember, it's only 9 weeks. It just seems like forever.

Sandy, give your sister my well wishes.:) she will be in my thoughts and prayers. I'm sure she will do good. God Bless!

Psalm 91- The Soldier's Psalm

1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the LORD , "He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust."

3 Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
5 You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.

9 If you make the Most High your dwelling-
even the LORD , who is my refuge-
10 then no harm will befall you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread upon the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

14 "Because he loves me," says the LORD , "I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life will I satisfy him
and show him my salvation."

I'll pray for her.

That is the same Psalm I read at my son's going away party for the Navy. Best of luck to her and tell her to remember,"and it came to pass", my favorite passage.:)

Duck, I mis-read your post the first time. And yall may want to take note of this, but I agree with you. (edited to correct)

As for Basic, I am not worried about her. She is following her dreams and doing what she has to do to become what she wants to be. That in itself is a great accomplishment. I am proud to be her friend.

Dadgum Dave, I believe you may have mis-read the Duck's intentions. Read his post again, and I think you'll see he stands ready to square away anybody that gives Terry's sister a hard time.

Terry, I'm sure your sister will do just fine. Tell her to tote a big grain of salt, and not to take anything personal, drill instructors are supposed to be "assertive".;)

Best of luck to your little sister. Sarge's words are good advice. Take nothing personal, hang in there and the time will fly by.

Terry, I'm real proud of your little sister and all who chose to serve our country. Good luck and God speed!

Thanks to everyone for all of your prayers and well wishes. I haven't been on the computer in a while but I am hoping that Jennifer will be in this weekend and she can reply to everyone.

God Bless,
Sandi
