Limited Edition Buck Question

Trax, I do get out, but that's not what I watch or where I go:D. Thanks for the explaination...it's very clear now:o...I'm going to say if Goose had said "in" and not "down" I would have understood---NOT:p. Preston

At least with women, I'm just window shopping.

Goose,
I tell my wife that as long as I'm looking she has nothing to worry about. It's when I stop loooking that she should start worrying. That keeps me out of trouble if I happen to stare a little too long. She also thinks that collecting Buck knives is a lot better than some other vice that I could be involved in. :o

the knife has the upside down T and it is iron wood brass and Seral Numbered of 500 issue...
i felt slighted !!!! here i paid and got the SAME cut out !!! with the custom stamp and burral maple in brass with Custom stamp and no numbers...
WTF happened here!!! ???
i paid extra for a custom stamp and no date marks and here it is now as a limited production !!! so what does that say about my mall nina Nife...:thumbdn:

yes i am a bit unhappy to say the least as i jest dont under stand differign deffentions of custom and limited and here you guys wanted date marks on your customs!!!???! then what would be the bother of ordering a custom stamp with a date to have it later that year as a dated limited...

ugh ...excuse me i paid for a 'custom' not a undated limited production ... :jerkit:
ok rant off :foot: :barf:
what do you guys have to say ....

...Well Dave...as for me...The only sorta, kinda, could possibly be..."Customs" that I own are those from the BCCI...other than those, mine are all traditional users made through the years or those which I've modified myself for me alone. I guess I'm saying that I may have a fear of those "Customs" made from the shoppe after what I've gone through with the "sorta customs" that I have. If the description of a knife as a Custom or Limited Edition is arbitrarily set by someone who determines it on the basis of who the buyers are, I would have to take pause at any definitions of a knife in those categories and really think about making a purchase from them. As to the knives that I've purchased in those categories I'm gonna wait a bit for the next one. If there is still a learning curve taking place, as some of the forumites have alluded to, I may just wait a bit longer. I do so love the stag's though...:)

334dave...you failed to mention the special projects. I sometimes see those stated as limited editions. In this case Cabelas is stating that it is a limited edition. I suppose that another company/individual could order that same knife call it what they wanted.

I'm not sure what the proper differences would be but I would expect the limited editions to be numbered. Custom is from the CS? A blade marked with the custom stamp can be used for a LE, SP or SFO:confused:  .

Then we need to consider overruns(knife produced the same as a numbered LE, but not numbered), special factory orders(which I would assume fall into the special projects area). I don't know, I also hope that someone with the knowledge about this will reply.

Tuff to tell the players without a program:grumpy:. Preston

...Preston...It sure is a tough call isn't it?...As all of the BCCI knives are sent out as "Limited Editions" lately, a guy woulda expected to see some sort of marking to attest to that fact. This was brought out in a few threads a while back. Maybe they merely had an over-stock of "Limited Edition" boxes and used 'em up. Funny that someone like Cabelas or Bass Pro can sell "Limiteds" that are numbered yet the knives we've been buying as fundraisers couldn't be numbered as a "Limited Edition"...

Technically couldn't Buck or anyone else who orders these knives to sell,
call them whatever they want? Couldn't a Limited Edition knife also be from the custom shop? A limited edition doesnt really have to be numbered? Does it? I have numbered knives that came in a standard Buck Knives box...
I consider my Buck 119 Customs I ordered to be Limited Edition but technically they are customs, one of a kind, I would call that limited :D I also have custom knives that came in standard boxes and Limited edition knives that are actually special production knives (factory overrun) in limited edition boxes... I dont care still a wonderful, quality knife from BUCK however you look at 'em!
Its kind of a moot point to me, as long as they are Bucks I dont really care what they call them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also at some point any discontinued knife could be considered "limited" even if it is "limited" to 50,000 pieces. Still limited right? take any Buckcote knife for example, they are all limited to the # made!
334Dave - Date stamp still would be nice :D
Just my 2 cents worth I guess...

...There are so many possibilities as to calling a knife one thing or other that at this point it's all kind of pointless...If I like the knife and it feels good in my mitts...I'll try to find a way to buy it...be it Limited Edition or Custom or factory production...
