liner/frame lock ?

Mag springs and liner/frame locks will not - repeat - not - lose tension stored in a compressed state. It defies the actual properties of metal to do so, and has no scientific basis that can be observed in properly conducted tests.

Of course, if someone's 20 year old armorer with no degree in metallurgy insists that's the way it is, of course, why argue? The more important point to him is that NO LIVE AMMO gets in his storage area. He sure isn't going to be responsible for your ND.

Same with knives. Slipjoints have tension on them too. I've handled my share of 50 year old pocketknives that still walk and talk, it's the same principle - the back spring never lost tension after all those decades.

Not bad for knives designed to last 38 - 40 months before replacement.
