liner lock: notch edge angle

Help. Which way do the notch & lock edges slope? I've looked at Terzuola's and Ray Roger's tutorials and can't figure it out. They seem to advise the opposite of each other.

In my photo attached, #1 & #2 should slope the same direction, at say, 8 1/2 degrees, but slope which way for a right hand knife?
The liner lock, (#2), goes on top of the blade as it is facing in the photo.

See attached drawing: Then iimagine that the knife is placed blade edge up so that the liner LOCK goes on the left side of the blade.
Now in that position, would the BLADE notch edge be its longest on the right side, away from the lock?
and angle shorter to the left side, on the lock side?

And the lock edge be the opposite, so they actually match angles?

Or do you grind the angles the opposite of this drawing & description?

From your drawing edge up tang toward you. Yes the blade notch will be longer on the right side of the blade as viewed.

I grind my lock notch on the blade with my belt grinder. I set the angle on the platen and grind the notch on the tang with the blade edge to the right for a right handed knife. To the left for a left handed knife. I use a square face on the lock bar.

Be careful when fitting the lock so you don't end up with a lock bar that's too short.

Hope this makes sense and helps.
