Liner lock question

I just finished my first liner lock. I am not quite happy with locking mechanism. I hope ot get it better on my next one.
My question involves the "springiness" of the liner material. I am using 410 stainless steel .050" thickness. Should I be heat treating this in some way to make it more springy, or is it just used "as is".
If I should heat treat it, ho do I do so? Heat to non-magnetic and quench in oil?
Any suggestions on liner locks in gereral are also welcome.
Thanks,

I feel that 410 will make a great liner locking lock. YES you need to heat treat it to 38-42 rc or in that range.
