Liner lock vs button lock

Can anyone tell me why the liner lock is so much more popular than the button lock. I am not talking about autos but just a straight button lock folder. It seems to me that with out the detent rubbing on the blade ond the mechanicals of the liner lock itself I would have thought the button lock would be more popular. No need to reach a thumbnail into the liners to release just push the button.
Thanks
Steve

Harder to build, less self adjustment, association with autos. Those are my guesses.

Steve.
Please tell me what you mean by a "button lock".

Canadian made Brian Tighe, not an auto
Locks on opening, not on closing, opens with the thumb stud
As smooth as can be.

Must be biased closed somehow to avoid the Gravity knife / centrifugal knife law
(liner locks have this built in.)
I'm not sure how Brian Tighe works that part

These buttons have a tapered portion and likely have some self adjustment for wear on the taper.

Buy a kit knife and play with it to see how it works.
