liner locks

Hello, I'm rather new in the knifemaking buisiness (hobbyist since 2 years) and am eager to make a liner lock knife. What material should I use for the liner, how do I get the little steel ball in the liner and , last but not least, how should i make the pivot (I don't have a milling machine).
