Liner or Framelock questions

Pardon my ignorance but can someone explain the difference between a liner lock & a frame lock. I always tought they were the same.

Pretty much. Remove the scales from a liner lock and presto, you have a frame lock. The only inherent difference is whether the lock bar is covered or exposed.

In practice, frame locks are commonly thicker than liner locks, since for equal overall handle thicknesses the frame lock thickness is that of the liner lock's scale and liner combined.

I have used the Subclaw today around the house.

Despite my concerns, it is solid, and I have no fear of it closing on me, as the grip prevents closing. Also, when closing it, it is very unlikely that your fingers would get in the way because the un-sharpened part of the blade would come into contact with the finger which is disengaging the lock. Brilliant!

This is one SHARP knife! The blade shape makes cutting almost effortless. I am VERY pleased!

I may be ordering a Subcom or Wharcom next. The Trance is a really fine looking knife as well...choices...too many choices!!!!
