what thickness do you use? and where do you buy yours?
any great hints on using it?
vern :o

I got some from TKS, but can't remember what thickness. I got two, thin and less thin :D Actually was given a tip by a maker to use thick construction paper instead, just saturate with epoxy. Don't know how sound it is, have yet to try it.

I use the thicker, you can get it from texas knife supply, the thinner just does not show up very well.

I heard so many people complaining about spacer material shrinking, I quit using it. BUT... I like the look, so I started taking micarta (black, maroon, etc.) and surface grinding it down to very thin stock.

I never personally had any shrink that I'm aware of, but the complaints I read about kind of scared me away from it.

Has anyone ever use vinyl siding. i just did one with white and it looks great.
they make this in smooth as well. i got mine from my buddys lumber yard.
he's going to get me some red smooth.

Vinyl has low surface energy and oily processing aids for extrusion or calendaring. This makes it difficult to bond. People generally use solvent welds to join it rather than adhesives.

Bonding that to steel is a risky proposition in the long term. I wouldn't recommend it.
