Quick question. How does that open one handed? The knife looks great. I just can't figure out how one would open it one handed other than Spyder dropping it.

The hook on the end of the blade catches on your pocket, belt loop or anything really and will pull the blade open.
I think the design was originally conceived for WW2 verterans who lost an arm in combat but still wanted to carry and use a pocket knife.

I think this design goes back to the post Civil War period when there were far more amputees as a percentage of veterans, but I can't find confirmation right away.
