Where do most of you guys get your knife liners? I'd love a pair of colored ones for the BK15 I got for Christmas. I just stripped and patina'd it yesterday.

No idea if you can buy them. Just trace, cut, drill, apply. Any material will do. Check the thrift store for cheap stuff to destroy. I like plasticky Tupperware stuff, easy to manipulate. If you're handy enough to strip and patina then you got this...

I was planning on jut finding some plastic and cutting my own, but I figured I'd ask. It's so popular that I was thinking that someone was offering them by now. I see so many nice looking orange ones that I wonder what everyone is using for it. I'll have to ask my brother what you used for the BK17 he bought me last year. That thing turned out PERFECT between his liners, the Tomar's factory micarta handles, and the sheath from PYSOPS.

Dvd cases. Xbox is green, blurays are blue, wii is white or red or yellow or.......

You get the idea.

Cut with scissors and sand em....

Thanks Moose! Why didn't I think of that! Gah...
Very inspirational, I'll have a set by the end of the evening:D

WalMarts and Dollar Stores have cheap plastic cutting mats, place maps, file folders, shoe boxes, dvd cases, etc in all sorts of colors and thicknesses.

Hobby Stores have all sorts of material, even thin leather 'scraps'.

Just about anything weather resistant would work.

Guys do you find the screws are long enough, or us there a need for longer. Let's say the width of an Xbox case liner.

I've used shower pan liner, rubber gasket material from HD...use just about anything. What you need is another Becker to trim them once you get them on your 15 ;)......

They barely fit. You could get some longer ones but factory barely makes it....

I went to Home Depot and got stainless cap screws and cut down to size with a dremel. For scales used cutting board from target. Pretty easy!

Excellent thanks Moose and Lak. Gonna try the stock screws first, cause they're all replaced stainless.

Are you guys using the liners simply for looks? I mean, how thick are these xbox cases (I don't have any video game system )? What really does 1/16" really add?

It adds enough to make the tweeners that much more awesome. My hands aren't quite big enough for the full size Becker grip, but that little extra on a tweener I find to be just perfect. But hey, to each their own.

not sure if he's still doing it, but tommythewho used to offer 'em up premade.

I've used kydex, micarta, FRP, G10, copper, and aluminum. for liners. I like the G10 the best, but it gets kinda costly with shipping.
All are pretty easy to work, but the G10 is very forgiving and gives the best finish. Just wear a respirator when shaping.

I get it from usaknifemaker, but jantz supply, texas knife supply and others offer it as well.

I've tried everything from .012 to .080 thick - and 1/16th seems to be the sweet spot. 2 sheets of .030 material, anyway. Looks good and fits the hand like a glove. It makes stock sheaths tight, but serviceable with a little work.

Good luck, and remember whatever material you use - have fun!

Here you go:

These are from a Tupperware utensil drawer organizer. One side expanded so it was big and flat on the bottom. About 14x10".

Chocolate Kydex under peanut-butter tweener scales.

Pictures not very organized right now - I'll need to take a look for some others. Lee Bowers / Cold has some yellow G10 ones on a tweener and full-size that I gave away.
