Well I have not tried it.
Sounds like you should and then report back to us how about how well it works. I think it could be a good handle for hunting and fishing knives for wet weather.
It could be kind of cool looking over a cord wrapped handle, or dipped/sprayed on a neck knife handle. I'd say it would almost definitely be too rough and thick of a coating for the blade though.
I have tried using truckbed coatings on handles before with mixed results. it works better on handles that have a cord wrap and are "undersize" if that makes sense. by undersize i mean a little smaller in width from what your finished knife will be because by the time you wrap it the handle then spray the bed liner on it the handle size reallly grows and ends up looking "odd".
Not a knife but I used Herculiner bed liner on the heavily modified G.I. fiberglass stock of my customised shorty M14.I dabbed it on with a sea sponge to get greater texture.Even under the recoil of an 18 in. barreled M14 with a very short buttstock the texture is not too abrasive and has held up very well.Hope this helps.
